Five Highlights from 2018
Hello wonderful people! The holiday’s + diving into the new year has kept me busy! 2018 was good to our family. Every year for a decade our family has gone through some incredibly challenging trials- most of them spanning multiple consecutive years. Although we still had challenges, collectively we had the best year in 10 years! No, I promise you I am not exaggerating. I wanted to put together five highlights from the year to help me reflect and recognize the Lord’s love and grace Challenges are blessings in disguise and I am very grateful for ours. They help me see, appreciate and be more grateful for the blessings from on High!
Although I did not travel internationally this year, I had the opportunity to travel stateside. New Orleans, Disneyland, Houston, Montana, to name a few. The past couple years I have made a New Years goal to travel more. 2017 I traveled out of town at least one time per month and 2018 at least quarterly. I find travel is so important in my learning, growth and happiness. Experiencing new cultures, talking to new people and seeing the beauty of God’s earth are so fulfilling and keep me creative and grateful.
4. Starting my blog
Starting a blog is something I have wanted to do for several years. I wanted a creative outlet, something that I could shape into something I am proud of. Honestly, I didn’t know what to blog about. One day my sweet sister suggested I share all my DIY and improvement projects. An area I am passionate about, find enjoyment in and have knowledge to offer others. From that moment I haven stopped creating and brainstorming challenging projects that I can share with you all.
3. My Brother
My brother, Ben, is the light and joy of our family. From the second he came into this world, our lives were changed for the better. His smile can light a room and his humor will have you laughing until you pass out from lack of oxygen. For several years, Ben made some challenging, poor decisions that led him to incarceration in a different state than where the family resided. He was released in April 2018 after serving his time and was reunited with our family. Because of the grace and love of God, we were all able to find forgiveness and heal quickly so we could be a whole family again. We have been able to make up for lost time this year and make some unforgettable memories together.
2. Montana Family Vacation
My parents grew up in Montana and it holds a special place in their hearts. They moved away 30 years ago but always had a dream to retire their one day, in the trees by one of the gorgeous lakes. 2017 my parents were able to buy an undeveloped lot along a beautiful small lake and in 2018 we were able to unite as an entire family, the first time in seven years. The memories we made at the lake were special and very dear to me, times my heart will treasure forever. I look forward to the years to come to gather together, laugh and make more memories.
Matt and I have been dating for the past 5 years (on January 25) and have known each other since 2008! We met in college, playing basketball, of all things. Had you bet me $1 million that he would be my future husband, I would’ve laughed in your face and been very adamant that would never happen. But here we are, more ready than ever to seal our relationship in marriage. I love him with every ounce of my being and cannot imagine living my life without him! May 11, take your time getting here so we can get all the planning done! Just kidding, I cannot wait to begin life with him as my forever boyfriend!
Bye for now babes,
